Studio Markus Bergström is a design practice engaged in developing furniture and spaces for specific contexts and situations with focus on local requirements, materials and ways of production. The studio is located in Gothenburg, Sweden, and operates together with a network of people and colleagues in Scandinavia and beyond.

Whilst being practice led, working with public as well as private projects, the studio is also a platform for academic involvement at institutions such as HDK-Valand, Central Saint Martins, The Cass School of Architecture and Goldsmiths University.

Markus Bergström trained in product design at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later at The Royal College of Art, London, graduating in 2006 (MFA). He holds a teaching position at HDK-Valand, Gothenburg University, where he runs the course Between Design and Architecture and the MA platform Home & Planet alongside his design practice. He is engaged in Hidden Sites, a project run by the Centre for Critical Heritage Studies at Gothenburg University and has completed practice based and artistic research within urban development for Shodoshima Setouchi Triennale in Japan and Verksmidjan art space in Hjalteyri, Iceland.
